Home Composter Reviews: The Urban Composter

Product Name: Urban Composter

Overall Rating: 9/10

Welcome to my review of the Urban Composter. I have been using mine for several years now and highly recommend it. In my opinion, the pros far outweigh any of the cons 🙂

Pros:

  1. Compact Design: The Urban Composter has a compact design, so it’s beneficial for everyone even urban dwellers with limited space.
  2. Ease of Use: Very user-friendly; it comes with a simple setup process and clear instructions.
  3. Odour Control: The composter minimizes unpleasant odours by having a very tight seal, once the lid is closed it successfully contains and manages the composting smells.
  4. Durability: Is designed very well with durable and easy to clean materials, ensuring a long lifespan.
  5. Aesthetic Appeal: Because it’s designed for urban environments it blends well with indoor or outdoor spaces. As it is designed for indoor use, I’d recommend the composter #ad be placed under cover if outside to protect it from the elements.
  6. Composting Speed: With the use of a compost accelerator kitchen waste turns into liquid fertilizer reasonably quickly and the solid compost breaks down to pulp within 6 weeks.
  7. Ventilation System: The composter has a well-designed ventilation system, with a grid at the base allowing for essential composting aeration.
  8. Versatility: Can handle a variety of kitchen scraps, I put meat, fruits, vegetables, and other compostable materials i.e. paper towels in mine.

Con:

Size Limitations: I find this particular model to be an ideal size however it may not accommodate the composting needs of larger households.

My overall experience with the Urban Composter has been satisfying and rewarding. I have eliminated all my food waste, if the birds don’t get it my compost bin does. The liquid fertilizer the composter produces is invaluable in the garden, especially for anything planted in pots. The solid compost that remains is put right back into my garden or added to my green waste pile outside. The Urban Composter definitely meets my specific needs and once again I highly recommend it to urban users as a practical solution for composting in limited spaces.

Hey, your Urban Composter review is a lifesaver for us urbanites! The compact design and odor control are real winners. I’m curious, though, how has the composter held up for you in changing weather conditions, especially since you recommended covering it if used outside? Would love to hear more about your experiences with that. Have a good one.

    Hi Jake,

I appreciate your feedback. I’ve had my composter inside and outside over the years, when outside I usually keep it close to the house and I don’t actually cover the composter. My recommendation is that if you reside in an area that gets extreme heat, heavy frosts or snow you place the composter under some type of cover i.e porch, verandah or canopy. Hope that helps clear up any doubts. Cheers 🙂
